December 9, 2010: BYU Brass Chamber Night (7:30 pm @ Room 313, UPC, BYU ~ Free) – The brass chamber students of BYU present a musical collage. Come hear a variety of ensembles perform works that span across the genres. I coach several of the ensembles that will be performing.

November 13, 2010: BYU Trombone Choir (7:30 pm @ Madsen Recital Hall, HFAC, BYU ~ Free) – The BYU trombone choir is back and better than ever. As adjunct professor of trombone, I will play along with the ensemble as we perform Ewazen, Bach, our own arrangements of Holst and Grieg, and many others.

October 22-23, 2010: A Concert for an Autumn Evening (7:30 pm @ SLC Tabernacle ~ Free, Ticket Required) – The Orchestra at Temple Square, under the direction of Igor Gruppman, presents an enjoyable evening of music. September 24, 2010: 2010 SummerArts Concerto Winners (7:30 pm @ Libby Gardner Concert Hall, Univ. of Utah ~ $3-$7) – The young winners of the 2010 SummerArts Concerto competition will perform with the SummerArts Festival Orchestra, conducted by Eric Hansen of Brigham Young University. August 12-13, 2010: Graduation from BYU (4:00 pm @ BYU Marriott Center and 8:00 am @ DeJong Concert Hall, HFAC, BYU ~ Free) – This is not actually a performance, but I have worked hard and will be receiving my Master of Music degree from Brigham Young University. Feel free to shoot me an e-mail if you want to come and we can get together after one of the ceremonies. My brother’s wife will also be receiving a bachelor’s degree. Congratulations, Jillian!

June 19, 2010: BYU SummerFest Orchestra (3:00 pm @ DeJong Concert Hall, HFAC, BYU ~ Free) – I am assisting the Summerfest Orchestra on bass trombone and will perform in the concert on Saturday. Music includes selections from Cavaleria Rusticana, “William Tell Overture”, “Suite” from Carmen, and “Overture” from Gipsy Baron.

June 11, 2010: A Flag Day Tribute to the USA (7:30 pm @ SLC Tabernacle ~Free, ticket required) – A brass choir comprised of members of the Orchestra at Temple Square will perform with the Bells on Temple Square. Seeing a bell choir perform is a real treat! We will be honoring all military personnel. The brass choir will accompany on a few pieces, will perform Aaron Copland’s “Fanfare for the Common Man”, and a breakout quintet will perform “Summer”.

April 9, 2010: BYU Honors Brass Quintet (5:00 pm @ Museum of Art Recital Hall, BYU ~ Free) – The Honors Brass Quintet presents a concert of works by Arnold, Koetsier, Farnaby, Plog, and Lustoslawski.

April 8, 2010: BYU Wind Symphony (8:00 pm @ DeJong Concert Hall, HFAC, BYU ~ $8-$11) – Come be a part of a live broadcast with BYU’s Wind Symphony as we perform an exciting concert featuring David Maslanka’s “Symphony No. 7”. Also on the program is “The Golden Age of the Xylophone” showcasing Dr. Ron Brough as soloist. Contact me if you are interested in 2-for-1 ticket coupons.

March 30, 2010: BYU Trombone Choir (7:30 pm @ Madsen Recital Hall, HFAC, BYU ~ Free) – It is time again for the trombone choir to strut its stuff on BYU campus. We have a fun program for you with a variety of musical styles to please the palette.

March 19-20, 2010: Orchestra at Temple Square (7:30 pm @ SLC Tabernacle ~ Free, ticket required) – Come to the Tablernacle for the Orchestra’s Spring concert. We will be performing Glinka’s Overture to Ruslan and Ludmilla, Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 6, and highlights from Swan Lake.

February 26, 2010: BYU Wind Symphony (7:30 pm @ DeJong Concert Hall, HFAC, BYU ~ $8-$11) – We will be performing two brass heavy pieces and a beautiful chorale at this fun performance. The choral is a transcription of Lauridsen’s O Magnum Mysterium, a piece known for its lush tonal suspensions. The brass pieces are Festival Variations by Claude T. Smith and Pansori’c Rhapsody by Chang Su Koh. I have a bunch of 2 for 1 coupons; e-mail me if you are interested.

February 13, 2010: Annie Clark Harp Recital (5:00 pm @ Maeser Bldg Lecture hall, BYU ~ Free) – I will be playing a trombone/harp duet with Annie titled “Into Evening” by Philip Lasser. This is a beautiful piece that takes two instruments that seem to be at odds with one another and combines them to present an introspective journey.

February 3, 2010: Zach Van Houten Trio (5:30 pm @ Madsen Recital Hall, HFAC, BYU ~ Free) – Zach, a horn player at BYU, is putting on a recital which includes a new brass trio he composed titled “A Brief Adventure”. Come hear this and several other fun pieces!

January 30, 2010: “One Nation, Under God” Celebration (7:00 pm @ Utah Capital Building Rotunda, 2nd Floor ~ Free) – A patriotic evening of uplifting and encouraging music by four combined choirs with band.
